Today my wife told me to stop saying my 1.5 year old son is a moron it is not good for his self esteem. Ill tell you from personal experience that when I was a teenager I was an absolute dick to people, but I didn't realise it cause I was just a stupid teenager. One day my dad had enough and while I was doing something, I can't remember what to be honest, he just snapped and went "oh my god! can you just not act dickish for ONE day of your life?". I honestly believe that it was a moment that turned my life around. Kids need to be told when they're being dicks, or assholes, because they think what they're doing is normal and okay.

People seem to forget that until your kids can actually afford to live on their own, they are your subjects and you are the ruler. Being friends with your child is a good thing but they need to know you can instantly get into your ''ruler'' face and distribute punishment.
